Free Tax Preparation

AARP Tax-Aide/IRS certified counselors will provide free tax preparation and electronic filing for low-to moderate-income taxpayers of any age in St Mary’s County, with special consideration for those 60 and older. Taxpayers do not need to be a member of AARP. Taxpayers (and spouse if married) must show picture ID and have a social security card for everyone to be included on the tax return. Bring a copy of your 2016 tax return, income information (W-2, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-G, etc.), documentation for deductions and tax credits, Form 1095-A if health insurance was purchased through the Market Place or Exchange), and banking information for direct deposit of your refund. Call 240 466-1740 to schedule an appointment at a site near you. This is an automated service; leave your name and phone number and your call will be returned. Walk-In Service is available for taxpayers on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon, at Church of the Ascension, 21641 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park. A Taste of History Bridal Show at Historic St. Mary's City

Newly engaged? Thinking of getting married? Please join us on February 25, 2018 from 1 - 3:30 p.m. for our annual bridal show at the reconstructed State House of 1676. Visit with the experts - wedding planners, photographers, florists, caterers, officiants, transportation, lodging, stylists, make-up artists, DJ's, bakeries, clothiers, jewelry designers, and wedding locations to name a few. Visit our beautiful venues - the State House and lawn, the Margaret Brent Gazebo, the Inn at Brome Howard, and the Maryland Dove. 57th Annual Spring Dinner

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (LAHVFD) is sponsoring their 57th Annual Spring Dinner on Saturday, March 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall located at 24801 Three Notch Road, Hollywood, MD. Cost is $25.00 – Adults, $25.00 – Carry Out, $7.00 – Children 4 to 12 years of age, FREE – Children 3 and under. The buffet style meal consists of Stuffed Ham, Fried Oysters, Chicken Salad, Parsley Potatoes, Candied Yams, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, Beets, Rolls, Coffee and Iced Tea. 6Th Annual Guitar Festival 2018

Guitar lovers unite for the 6th Annual Guitar Festival by Power Jam Music Alliance with an afternoon Guitar Workshop and evening Guitar Concert and Art Show! The headliner for the festival is classical guitarist Mark Edwards From 1998 to present, Mark has earned 34 top prizes in Thailand, Canada, and the United States. “Mark Edwards has developed an incomparable style to his guitar playing that makes him a ‘one-of-a-kind’ type of musician.” -Peabody Presents The featured performances are by local guitar artists : Longman Joseph Norris, Bob Schaller and Friends and Hook Line and Sinker. The opening acts are August Winters. Josh Riley, Jessica Saint Clair, David Flood, Brandon Aksteter, and Prophessor. The Art Show will display paintings and other art works by local artist. Come with your guitar at 2 PM to 4 PM for the Guitar Workshop with Mark Edwards and stay around for the Guitar Concert and Art Show at 7 PM to 11 PM. All ages are welcome. The festival will be held at the 5 South Event Center, 21030 Point Lookout Road, Callaway, Maryland 20620. The festival is sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council and the St. Mary’s County Arts Council.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is sponsoring their Annual Spring Craft Show on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall located at 24801 Three Notch Road, Hollywood, MD. Admission and parking is FREE. Over 90 craft vendors with a variety of handmade merchandise available (floral, ceramics, pottery, glass, jewelry, wood, paintings, photography, baskets, quilts, crochet, paper, wrought iron, doll clothing, bath and body, embroidery, hair accessories, candles, NFL, home décor, pet accessories, jelly, honey, jerky, cupcakes and much more. STEM-ING 2018

NAWCAD S&Es partner with The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) and St. Mary"s College of Maryland to produce "STEM-ING" (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—Inspiring the Next Generation). STEM-ING is a one-day event designed for middle school girls in the tri-county region to gain exposure to STEM fields and associated careers. Throughout the day, up to 150 young ladies will hear from positive role models in the STEM industry and academia and will have an opportunity to select from over 10 fun, interactive, and challenging STEM related workshops. STEM-ING has successfully inspired over 450 young women to the exciting world of STEM. This will be our 6th year of involvement. The STEM-ING 2018 event will be held on Saturday, 28 April 2018 on the St. Mary"s College of Maryland campus in St. Mary"s, MD. Bay-CSS Walk, Run, and Roll

Take part in the 6th Annual Walk, Run, & Roll Event on May 5, 2018 at beautiful Greenwell State Park. This family fun event supports Bay Community Support Services, Inc. (Bay-CSS) and their mission to enrich the lives of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Whether you are looking to break your last 10K record, test yourself on your first 5K, or enjoy a scenic walk with your kids and dog on our Fun Run/Walk/Roll Course, this is the event for you. Unlike most other 5k events, this event offers a "Roll" course suited for anyone in a wheelchair or using roller-blades, roller skates, or a stroller. All are welcome.
