STEM-ING 2018

NAWCAD S&Es partner with The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) and St. Mary"s College of Maryland to produce "STEM-ING" (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—Inspiring the Next Generation). STEM-ING is a one-day event designed for middle school girls in the tri-county region to gain exposure to STEM fields and associated careers. Throughout the day, up to 150 young ladies will hear from positive role models in the STEM industry and academia and will have an opportunity to select from over 10 fun, interactive, and challenging STEM related workshops. STEM-ING has successfully inspired over 450 young women to the exciting world of STEM. This will be our 6th year of involvement. The STEM-ING 2018 event will be held on Saturday, 28 April 2018 on the St. Mary"s College of Maryland campus in St. Mary"s, MD. Newtowne Manor House Walk in the Park

2nd Annual “Walk in the Park” 5K Fun Run/Walk. St. Francis Xavier Church. Saturday, April 28th for event to benefit the Newtowne Manor House Preservation/Restoration Fund, open to all ages and abilities. Course starts at St. Francis Xavier Church and follows the road into picturesque Newtowne Neck State Park. Woman"s Club Clothing Drive

The Woman’s Club of St. Mary’s County, Inc., a 501© (3) non-profit, will be having a used clothing drive on Saturday, May 5th, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The drive will be held on the upper level of the parking lot at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for the Club’s scholarship fund. The organization awards at least two scholarships annually to students who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence. Extracurricular activities, community service and character are also considered. Accepted items include: all types of clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, backpacks, hats scarves, briefcases, gloves and ties. Household items such as blankets, tablecloths, bed lines, draperies, curtains, pillows, towels, small rugs, quilts and comforters are accepted. All types of toys, stuffed animals and bicycles of all size are also accepted. All items should be put into thirty gallon tightly tied plastic bags, with the exception of hard toys that should be put into boxes. Donations are tax deductible and receipts will be available. Parish Dinner/Festival
